We are located at 1 Den Place, Sulphur Point, Tauranga, situated on the water front in the new Tauranga Marine Precinct Hub operated by Vessel Works.

We have many years experience at refitting vessels, both large and small boats, including yachts and launches. We are a popular choice with both visiting overseas vessels and local boat owners due to our ability to successfully undertake this work and to complete the refit to a high quality finish.

Kindred Spirit Refit

Kindred Spirit, a Sunreef 62 Catamaran, came to Hutcheson Boatbuilders for an extensive refit. The work included modifying the galley and navigation station, adding a new head (toilet) and waste system, modifications to transom for easier access, new motors and refurbishing the engine rooms, changes to rig layout and helm station, adding a new canopy for the fly bridge and having the hull repainted and antifouled.

Kindred Spirit Sunreef 62 Catamaran at Hutcheson Boat Builders

Kindred Spirit ready to be relaunched after the refit. The Sunreef 62 Catamaran had a speedy and successful voyage back to Fiji.

SV 'Super Mario'

Sailing Vessel 'Super Mario' called into Tauranga to carry out a major refit. Hutcheson Boatbuilders undertook the boat building side of the refit which involved refurbishing the interior, replacing teak decks and building a new Bimini frame and davit, building a new deck locker, replacing various stainless steel components (toe rail, cleats, fairleads) carrying out osmosis repairs and anti-fouling. Several other Tauranga Marine Industry businesses were involved on the refit including Bridge Marina Travelift, Mike McCormick Rigging Services and Watercraft Electrical.
