We at Hutcheson Boatbuilders engage in all kinds of fiberglass work including hull damage repairs, new hull extensions and the installation of bow thrusters to name just a few. We also make custom fiberglass articles for boats such as hard tops, water tanks and exhausts. We also carry our fibre glassing work for non-marine customers making the likes of custom car bumpers and car bonnets.

Fiberglass now absolutely dominates recreational boat building and has done so for many years. Apparently, the first all fiberglass and polyester sailboat was built in Ohio back in 1942. The reason for its popularity is due to the economics and ability for mass production, unlike wooden boats that are handmade. Hutcheson Boatbuilders build the production glass Tourer 1350 Pilothouse yacht along with the EVO powerboat. Vessels with wooden topsides and wooden hulls are protected from the elements with a fiberglass layer making fiberglass a dominated everyday material used by boat builders.
