Hutcheson Boatbuilders carry out a complete range of boat building work on both commercial and recreational vessels including new boat construction, general vessel repairs and maintenance, vessel refits, fibre-glassing, interior cabinetry, general engineering, osmosis repairs, stainless steel work, repaints and painting repairs, antifouling, boat grooming and all manner of shipwright work.
We are based on the water front next to Vessel Works. We are conveniently situated between the Sulphur Point Marina and the Tauranga Bridge Marina. We work alongside Vessel Works who operate a 350-tonne capacity travel-lift allowing large commercial and oversized pleasure craft to be hauled-out onto a hardstand to carryout water blasting, antifouling, painting and maintenance work. We have three large sheds on-site to carry out undercover boat work.

Smaller commercial and pleasure craft usually use either the Tauranga Bridge Marina or the Sulphur Point Marina’s haul-out/hard-stand facilities. Both facilities are close to our workshop. Both marinas have a 35 tonne travelifts (with 2 or 4 slings) , Bridge Marina can lift boats with a beam of up to 5.5 meters and the Tauranga Marina can lift boats with up to 5.2m beams. Larger vessels, up to 350 tonnes, can be hauled out at Vessel Works, next to our workshop located in Hikuwai Place, Sulpher Point. We can build new or repair vessels up to 15 metres onsite at our workshop.
Hutcheson Boat Builders have there own worshop onsite at the Bridge Marina Hardstand. The Bridge Marina Travel Lift can haulout vessels up to 5.5 meters, slighty wider than the Tauranga Marina. There is also a 24-hour security service within the hardstand for your boat security. The travel lift can also lift masts and motors.
If your vessel too large to be be hauled out at the two local marina's, then Vessel Works is your option. Vessel Works is located next to our workshop. Vessels up to 350 tonnes can be haulded out at this secure facility.
Hutcheson Boatbuilders are authorised to undertake boat building work on vessels within the Tauranga Marina. There is space for up to 50 vessels on the hardstand. The marina also has a Roodberg Haulout Trailer with a 50 tonne capacity which allows them to haul out catamarans and other vessels that have a beam greater than 5.2m.
